Maybe God hates Cleveland because Browns fans still believe in Santa. Just sayin. Contributor: Ryan Alton

Well, here we are again.  It seems like only yesterday I was outlining my first post for our newly-minted site here at  It was about a year ago (December 21st, to be exact) and one of my first ventures was to project the outlook for the latest “most crucial off-season in Cleveland Browns history”.  That one, coming after the grim and disappointing end to the Randy Lerner via Mike Holmgren Era, where a change at the top would lead to systematic upheaval in every facet of the organization.  As has been the case far too often in Brownstown, change was needed and change was indeed coming. Can Brandon Weeden be ‘The Guy’ in 2013 and beyond? Opinions are mixed, to say the least. (photo:

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  I suppose the same can be said for what makes a promising quarterback in the NFL.  Over the past few days, the national media has descended upon Berea to check out the latest incarnation of the Cleveland Browns.  As is with every team, the quarterback was the hot topic of discussion.  Unfortunately for the Browns, it always seems like its for the wrong reasons. It’s a new day in Berea, that’s for sure.  By now you’ve likely seen the pictures of some of the artwork inside the newly renovated facility at 76 Lou Groza Boulevard. You’ve probably noticed tweets or quotes in the press from players expressing excitement about the new schemes and styles of the new coaching staff.  And you’ve probably read interviews from the coaches and front office executives expressing their hopes for the future while trying their best to manage expectations for the present. Let me know if this sounds familiar.  Lousy team makes a lot of moves in the off-season.  National media catches on.  National media begins singing praises of lousy team.  National media predicts breakout season for lousy team.  Lousy team stays lousy, never reaching bar set by national media.  National media blasts lousy team for not reaching expectations.  Team stays lousy, fans stay miserable.  Rinse and repeat. Browns’ Draft Plan is a Mystery, but New Brass Hopes to Erase Old Mistakes

With the draft just over two weeks away, it is still almost impossible to predict who the Cleveland Browns will pick, or which way they are leaning.  But this could be a good thing for a number of reasons.  Most importantly, it increases the trade value of the pick…but that’s if they want to trade.  If they stand pat, predicting the Browns pick remains difficult because there is no clear cut consensus number one overall pick.  While most mock drafts have Texas A&M offensive tackle Luke Joeckel being selected number one overall, it is not a done deal. UPDATED: “The Banner Model”

Saturday, March 9th, 2013

How will “The Banner Model” help the Browns build a winner? (photo: Staff Writer, Ryan Alton

UPDATE:  According to Former NFL Agent and NFL contract/salary cap expert for the popular website, Joel Corry, Joe Banner is currently constructing the contracts of the new Browns Free Agents the same way he did while he was President of the Philadelphia Eagles.  Corry posted the following tweet on Wednesday March 13 at 10:33 am… (more…)
