Before the 2011 NFL Draft, Pittsburgh defensive end Jabaal Sheard enjoyed interest from teams that ran 4-3 defenses and 3-4 defenses alike.  The 4-3 teams viewed him as a defensive end and the 3-4 teams planned  on asking him to stand up and transition to outside linebacker.  When the Cleveland Browns came on the clock with the 37th overall pick, Sheard’s name was called.  In transitioning to a 4-3 defense, the Browns were in need of defensive ends that could come off the edge and get after the quarterback.  After producing 19.5 sacks during his college career, Sheard fit the mold. Ryan’s Ultimate Browns Draft Review

Oh My God! The Browns shot their eye out!!

By DraftBrowns Staff Writer, Ryan Alton

I needed a day to decompress.  A day to process.  To give adequate and rational thought to the Browns 2013 Draft before I attempted to analyze it.  I knew that when I woke up Sunday morning with a feeling of dissatisfaction, and of disappointment, it wasn’t necessarily appropriate.  It didn’t feel right. It felt petty.  It was a visceral reaction.  Like not getting everything you asked for on Christmas even though you still got some pretty cool stuff.  Or like the feeling of coming home from vacation and having to go to work the next day.  Just bummed.  Deflated.  A feeling that one would naturally have after the build up of something so anticipated and so hyped that nothing, no matter the outcome, could immediately fill that void except the longing to look forward to something else.  And that something else is a now long way off. By DraftBrowns Staff Writer, Ryan Alton

With about a week away (hurry up already!) from the annual NFL Draft, the biggest question on every Browns fan’s mind, aside from “What the hell is going on at Pilot/Flying J?”, is “What are the Browns going to do when they’re on the clock with the #6 pick?”.  As I see it, there are a number of options or scenarios that could play out.  Some are more likely than others in my honest opinion.  It is the focus of this piece to explore each of those briefly, knowing deep down inside, the Browns could likely do something completely unexpected and surprise us all.  Well, sew my head to the carpet and call me Clark!  Here we go… (more…)

This evening, the Cleveland Browns announced that the team has reached an agreement in principle with former Baltimore Ravens’ defensive end/outside linebacker Paul Kruger.  The agreement is expected to be a five-year deal worth $41 million with $20 million in guaranteed money.  The Utah Ute was the 57th pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.  In his four seasons with the Ravens, Kruger has amassed 49 tackles, 15.5 sacks, one forced fumble and two interceptions.  Kruger is currently 27 years old.
